China moves Falun Gong prisoners out of Beijing, arrests hundreds leading up to Olympics

It continues to baffle me why China views the peaceful practitioners of Falun Gong, which is closely related to Buddhism, as a political threat. You won't hear much about this from Western media, but Falun Dafa Information Center -- an advocacy group based outside China -- reported the other day that Chinese officials have moved Falun Gong political prisoners from Beijing to faraway work camps.

A month before the Olympics, Asian media reported that China had stepped up its assault on Falun Gong by arresting more of its practitioners and sentencing them to work camps.
