National Guard deployed, arrests continue on Day Two of RNC protest
You've got to be kidding me! They deployed the National Guard today on RNC protesters. I wish I was there, but at least I can keep up to the minute on YouTube and through Indymedia. According to reports from citizens on the ground, police used tear gas, pepper spray and tasers today, even alerting a local hospital they were about to bring the gas. Arrests too continued but not as high as yesterday when police arrested nearly 300 people including those in preemptive raids on demonstration organizers referenced in the two videos here.
It seems the M.O. of every police station in the nation to mount riot gear, march around the city and beat up protesters. The same holds true for the Blue states and the Red states. I have to say, by the way, that the next video of Democracy Now! producer Nicole Salazar getting trampled by robot riot cops is really disturbing.
The below pictures depict two hippie stomping smiles by Portland, Oregon cops in 2006 where we experienced a large show of force. The other is from the DNC in 2000 that turned downtown Los Angeles into a battle ground. Both are original shots.
